Frequently Asked Questions

This varies greatly from student to student. Age, current water acclimation skills, and student’s location all play huge factors in learning how to swim.

On average, our students in Yuma and Tucson will do around 8 swim lessons in a season. 

In Show Low, our students typically do a minimum of 12 lessons due to less pool exposure and accessibility.

Our instructors provide all the equipment necessary for lessons.

However, swimmers should wear appropriate swim attire, secure their hair, and have a towel and water bottle on the pool deck.  Goggles are optional and if a swimmer has them we will often take turns practicing without them as well.

Unpotty trained children should wear a tight fitting swim diaper with a swimsuit or reuseable snug swim diaper covering the first diaper.

If solids escape the diaper and enter the pool during a lesson, the lesson may be ended early to allow for appropriate sanitation of the water.

For children learning how to swim we recommend lessons at least twice per week – usually a couple days a part.  When lessons are scheduled twice per week, we see children learn three times as quickly.

For adults, we recommend lessons at least once per week.  An instructor can help you determine the best schedule for your goals during your first lesson.

In the swim industry we’ve found that swimming is best learned through shorter frequent practice sessions compared to longer less frequent lessons.  Often children and adults are tired after just the 25 minute lessons because the focus is on the student being active the whole time (unlike group lessons where they stay on the wall the majority of the lesson).

While we try to keep the lessons to their timing as often as possible, a lesson may run a little short or long based upon how the lesson is going.  We try to end on a positive note whenever possible so swimmer’s are excited and not stressed about the next lesson.  If we’re about to master a skill, an instructor may go a little longer to make sure it’s solidified.  If a child (infant or toddler especially) is particularly frustrated or agitated, we may end early so as to not upset them and cause them to dread the next lesson.

Absolutely! Many families have found success with our program where other programs have failed.  Since our lessons are 1:1 we’re able to customize the lesson to each swimmer’s needs.  

Additionally, having lessons right in your backyard makes the lessons more effective because they’re learning safety skills right at home where they’re most likely to need them without the distraction of the public pool or group lessons.

During the spring and summer season we typically receive more than 40 phone calls a day.  We’re a small business with one full time staff member currently.

 Unused lesson credits are refundable for 30 days from the date of the first lesson scheduled. In the rare case that we process a refund, a $25.00 service charge and the 3.5% plus $0.30 card processing fees that are non-refundable to us will be deducted from your refund. 

Group classes are non-refundable 14 days prior to the class start date. Refunds processed for group classes before 14 days will incur the service and processing fees noted above.

Nope! We believe in trying to keep prices as low as we can for everyone.  We don’t want you to have to hunt down a coupon or sale. Our website shows a coupon code box because when you buy a package you’re given a redemption code to book lessons without paying again.

While rare, if your swim lesson doesn’t meet your expectations, please communicate this with us immediately so we can follow up with your instructor and document situations appropriately.

Due to the nature of our mobile service, we can’t be at every lesson to be sure our expectations and standards for instructors are met.

If you wait until your package is completed to say something, there is little we can do to help after the fact, but we have lots of options if you let us know when a problem occurs.
